We’ve just got a text! Love Island has returned to our screens and fans could not be happier.

Here is everything you need to know about this year’s show and the 2022 contestants:

Contestants: Who is taking part this year?

Amber Beckford, London, aged 24

Amber is heading to the villa and said she likes a guy with a personality, someone who can make her laugh and she is definitely not looking for a guy who likes to show off!

Andrew Le Page, Guernsey, 27

Page is an estate agent based in Dubai. Chatting about what he will bring to the show, he said:  “I’m going to bring laughs, and I am someone that’s not going to take things too seriously.”

Andrew once took his girlfriend on a trip to Paris, of course, the city of love!

Dami Hope, Dublin, 26

Dami is a microbiologist from Dublin, Ireland, and expressed that the show for him ”will be a fun experience, it may go well, or may not” he said.

Davide Sanclimenti, Manchester, 27

Davide is originally from Rome but currently lives in Manchester. He has gave himself the title of ‘Italian Stallion’ already! He also said: ”It’s going to be fun, I’m looking forward to it. I want to find my soulmate, even think about growing and building a family togehter”.

Gemma Owen, Chester, 19

Daughter to football legend Michael Owen, Gemma is set to follow in her fathers footsteps, into fame and perhaps fortune!

Gemma has competed in international dressage since she was 11 years old. She is the youngest Love Island contestant this year, at just 19 years old. She also has her own beach wear company.

Ikenna Ekwonna, Nottingham, 23

Ikenna works in Pharmaceutical sales, is 23 and lives in Nottingham. He is looking forward to bringing excitement to the show and has stated he is not a shy guy and doesn’t care what other people think of him. Go Ikenna!

Indiyah Polack, London, 23

Indiyah is a hotel waitress and describes herself as a down-to-earth person and because of this trait, she said ”It shouldn’t be an issue finding a lover or a friend” [on the show].

Liam Llewellyn, Newport, 22

Liam, 22, is a Masters Student from Newport. Chatting about entering the Villa and meeting someone, he said: ”I think 22 is a really nice age to meet someone” and ”I think Love Island is a great opportunity to meet someone because there are loads of different types, you get to know what you really like.”

Luca Bish, Brighton, 23

Luca is 22 and is a fish monger who lives in Brighton. He told the show that he prefers to meet a girl while on a night out: “I prefer to meet girls out and about. I think when you go looking for it, it’s not as easy, it’s like you’re desperate for it. If I like you or I think you are the one for me, I’ll take you out on a date but other than that, if I don’t like where it’s going – then I won’t be throwing dates out.”

Paige Thorne, Swansea, 24

Paige is 24, from Swansea, Wales, and is a paramedic. She spoke about not being able to find the one in Swansea while discussing why she signed up to the show: ”I’ve tried [to find love in Swansea] and there’s just nobody. I need to break out and broaden my horizons. I think that Love Island brings everyone together. I haven’t got to go out and I haven’t got to swipe.” She hopes they will ‘just come to me’.

Tasha Ghouri, Thirsk, 23

Tasha, is 23 and from Thirsk. She is Love Island’s first deaf contestant. She told the show she is definitely ready for love: ”I’m definitely ready for a relationship. I’m 23 now so I’m ready to get to know someone, go on holidays and travel with them.”

Love Island airs weeknights at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub after the show.
