Gateshead Comic Con brought together whole families to fuel their interests on their favourite comic book characters.
From stalls to guests to cosplayers, Gateshead unleashed has it all. There’s something for everyone. It doesn’t matter if your interests are comic books, films, games or anime, at least one stall or cosplayer will fit your interests. Eli, 16, cosplaying as Venti from Genshin Impact said that ‘it’s a way to actually get out the house and cosplay’. You’ll see the majority of convention goers in some form of costume. But even if you don’t want to dress up, people come in normal clothes or just equip themselves full of their merchandise.
But Unleashed is not just for the kids and teenagers. Many adults turn up fulfil all their geeky interests. Jessie, 33, is one of the many adults dressed up and she’s dressed as Harley Quinn. She said she likes Unleashed ‘because I absolutely love Marvel and comics’. For adults it’s a time to let loose and express their interests in all things comic.
Unleashed really invests back into the local xommunities, allowing many small businesses to thrive through the support of the attendees.
What a wonderful experience it has been and it’s an amazing way to meet people post the pandemic.
The next local Unleashed event will be held in Newcastle on July 3rd. Find out more at the Unleashed Events website.
