Tynemouth Market – A Weekend Hotspot not to be Missed!

I love a good mooch at markets, car boot sales and craft fayres and there's nothing better than supporting local businesses. Tynemouth Market has all of these things combined and is one of my regular weekend destinations.

Situation at Tynemouth Metro station, the free entry, weekly market, held each Saturday and Sunday, is a must visit for locals and tourists alike. Tynemouth Market provides an eclectic array of market stalls from local sellers and companies. With a mixture of arts, crafts, food and bric a brac, there really is something for everyone. Held directly at the Metro Station in Tynemouth, it's handy for travel and less than 5 minutes walk into the village of Tynemouth and the beautiful coastline.

The market itself has a large variety of stalls selling second hand goods, vintage ornaments, records and memorabilia, books, fruit and vegetables and flowers. There is even a pet food stall! Specialist stalls include handmade candles, quirky wall plaques and coasters, bespoke jewellery and an entertaining spoon ornament stall. Alongside such stalls, are foods stands for every palette including several home made cake stalls, a scotch egg stall, Asian cuisine, Greek food, and an array of deluxe burger and meat sandwich stalls. Go hungry to sample some of the most delicious snacks, produced locally with local ingredients.

The market is very open, allowing plenty of air to circulate and to keep people safe. However, there is also light shelter from the rain from the structure of the station. Dogs are welcome and stalls are spaced out enough for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Alongside the weekly stalls, Tynemouth Market run annual events such as book sales, farmers markets and Christmas markets.
