Michelle Heaton took to Instagram earlier this week to say that she misses her hometown of Gateshead.

Heaton, who grew up in Lobley Hill, Gateshead, moved to London when she was younger and had great success with BRIT award winning group Liberty X. The group’s most well known hit ‘Just A Little’ reached number one in 2002 and sold 153,000 in the first week.

Michelle recently celebrated nine months of sobriety after she checked in to The Priory last year and completed a 12-step rehab programme. She is now hoping to use her platform to help others.

Heaton told her 307k Instagram followers that she was ‘grateful to wake up 9 months sober and clean’.

Michelle also told her followers that she would be getting back onto the road with her Liberty X bandmates Jessica and Kelly performing around the country, across the pond and around Europe through out 2022.

She also teased that the band could be performing alongside an extremely successful band soon, adding that more news when it is confirmed.

”I count my blessings every day I get to do this for a living. From when I was 8 years old I dreamt big. From a council house in Gateshead to this stage at O2 London. I’m still that same girl, I never stopped dreaming, because without dreams that 8 year old would not have achieved”.

She added ”PS. I miss my Gateshead, it made me the woman who I am today. Strong, determined and humble. See you up Gateshead this year too”.
