It’s a brand new year, and of course when the clock struck midnight, all of our phones were filled with Happy New Year messages.

Well, that’s definitely the case for our North East stars, when they took to social media to wish their fans and followers all the best for the new year.

Our favourite Geordie duo Ant and Dec tweeted: “Let’s hope it’s a good’un! Lots of love x”

North East comedian and South Shields lass Sarah Millican said: “The excitement in the room and the joy I felt at being able to do my job again will be something I always remember. Thank you to everyone who’s been to see me on this tour, who came to previews, who watched Playground online. Much love to you all for being a part of this.” – reflecting on her 2021 tour.

Little Mix tweeted “Thank you for another incredible year x.”

Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, from South Shields, posted about the joy of having a baby in 2021, with footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, on Instagram.

“I cooked a whole human in 2021.” she added on Twitter.

Footballing legend Alan Shearer tweeted “Have a brilliant New Year everyone” with a series of emojis alongside the hashtag #2022NewYear.

Finally, South Shields singer, Joe McElderry, who recently starred in Snow White in Newcastle, tweeted

“So many hurdles and changes for us all! I’m proud of myself and I’m proud of you all for making it too also! Love and light for 2022!

Thanks for all your support joining me on this crazy ride”.
