Mrs Browns Boys is becoming a family favourite at Christmas, and no festive season would be complete without a visit to the Brown household.

This Christmas is no different, as a teaser was released, which showed that a new relative was to be introduced into the comedy across two specials, the first on Christmas Day and another set to be aired on New Years Day.

The new character, named Mikey, is set to cause a stir in the family, in which they try to warn Grandad (played by Dermot O’Neil) about Mikey’s troubled background.

Mrs Browns Boys latest full series was released in 2013, however, special holiday episodes have aired annually, from Halloween, Christmas to New Years specials.

The Christmas special will be called Mammy’s Mechanical Merriment.

In the episode, Mrs Brown, whose name is Agnes, will join the choir at the local church in Finglas.

Buster, played by Danny O’Carroll, will try to be as creative as he can be to try and ensure the family get the best Christmas tree possible, with a tree shortage in the city.

The Christmas specials have been recorded, in their usual studio in Glasgow, ready for Christmas and New Years Day. Both episodes will air on BBC One.
