Great news for Gateshead today, as an announcement has been made for the Community Renewal Fund in the North East. The bids were won to help make Gateshead a better place, and an area in which which everyone thrives.
Gateshead won four bids, with a total of £2.1 million pounds, which will be used to help 'Gateshead Riverside Partnership, Future You, Immex City pilot programme (formerly NCIT) and Future Markets Acceleration Programme'.
Gateshead is set to receive the highest amount of funding from the Community Renewal Fund, which will help to regenerate Riverside Park, Dunston Staiths and other parts of the town.
Gateshead Council will work alongside National Trust and the Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust in which £550,00 has been allocated to complete plans current plans.

The projects are set to be completed by a deadline of June 2022.
Councillor Malcolm Brain, cabinet member for the economy at Gateshead Council, said:
"We are delighted that these bids for the Community Renewal Fund have been successful. There are some fantastic projects and hugely imaginative people here, really working hard to take their projects forward, and help the local economy recover from the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic."
