After the explosive conclusion of the action-packed six-part series "Doctor Who: Flux", Jodie Whittaker is set to reprise her role as The Doctor in three special episodes of Doctor Who, the first of which is set to air on New Year's Day.
Eve of the Daleks will air on January 1st (BBC One, 7pm) and will see The Doctor, Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) face off against their deadliest foe, the Daleks, once again. This will be the third New Year's special featuring the Daleks in Jodie's run as the 13th incarnation of the Time Lord, after Resolution in 2019 and 2021's Revolution of the Daleks. Perhaps this will complete a trilogy-esque story arc featuring the creatures from Skaro...
This festive special will also feature guest stars Aisling Bea (This Way Up, Living With Yourself, Quiz), Adjani Salmon (Dreaming Whilst Black, Enterprice) and Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, Shameless).
New Year's Eve. Sarah [Aisling Bea] is working - again. Nick [Adjani Salmon] is her only customer - again. Same old same old. Except this year, their countdown to midnight will be the strangest and deadliest they've ever known. Why is an Executioner Dalek targeting these two people, in this place, on this night? Why are they having to live through the same moments again? Can the Doctor, Yaz and Dan save them and survive into the New Year?

Doctor Who showrunner, Chris Chibnall, had this to say about the upcoming special:
"We all need a little romance in our lives around New Year. Less so, Daleks. But Aisling Bea and Adjani Salmon's characters will have to deal with both in a New Year's Eve from hell. Together with Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, it'll hopefully prove the perfect New Year's Day tonic."
All we know for certain is that The Doctor must make it out of the situation alive, as she's set to star in two more upcoming specials in Spring and Autumn 2022. While we currently have very little information about the Spring episode, we do know that the Autumn special will feature a regeneration, with a new, and, as yet unnamed, lead actor taking over the role as the 14th Doctor. The final special will also be the last with showrunner Chris Chibnall at the helm, who will be succeeded by Russell T. Davies, returning to the show for the first time since 2010.
