Wondering where to pay your respects across Gateshead to those who fought for us?

This list below has been complied by Gateshead Council.

Thursday 11 November 2021

Gateshead – Saltwell Park
A Service of Remembrance organised by the Durham Light Infantry Association will commence at 10.45am at the DLI Memorial.

Crookhill/Stargate
Assemble at 10.30am at Crookhill School to walk with classes to the War Memorial for a wreath-laying ceremony and prayers.

Greenside
A short service will take place at the war memorial at 11am. The official service will take place on Saturday 14 November 2021.  

Low Fell
Restricted Remembrance Day event limited to registered wreath layers only. To register please contact Cllr. Susan Craig on 0191 488 0787.

Friday 12 November 2021

Birtley
The Fellowship of the Service will hold a short wreath-laying ceremony. Assemble at Birtley Cenotaph for 6.45pm.

Sunday 14 November 2021

Gateshead
The Service will commence at 10.45am, it is requested that those present assemble at the Cenotaph, Prince Consort Road, no later than 10.40am. The Service will last for half an hour and will include a wreath-laying ceremony.

There will be a March-Past after the Service outside the Central Library, Prince Consort Road where the Mayor, Deputy Mayor of Gateshead and Deputy Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear will take the salute.

Birtley
The parade will leave the Birtley Community Centre, Ravensworth Road at approx. 10.30am and proceed to the Birtley Cenotaph for 10.45am for a short Remembrance Service.  There will be a two minute silence followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.

Blaydon
10.15am service at St Cuthbert’s Church, followed by a service at the War Memorial at 12 noon. A Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Cenotaph. Assemble 10.45am for 11am.

Clara Vale
Assemble at the War Memorial at 10.45am for 11am for a wreath-laying ceremony.

Chopwell
An act of Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at th Cenotaph.  Assemble 11.45am for 12noon.

Dunston
Assemble at St Nicholas Church at 10am for a Service followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, Dunston at 11am.  Refreshments will be served afterwards in Church Hall. 

Felling
Garden of Remembrance, Felling at 10.45am for a short service and wreath laying ceremony at 11am (if wet, please make way to St Mary’s Church at Heworth). Please note if the weather is inclement the Service will be held in St Mary’s Church. 

Greenside
A service will begin at 10.45am at the war memorial, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.  The service will be attended by children from Greenside Primary School

High Spen
A Communion Service will begin at St Patricks Church at 9am.  It will move from the church to the War Memorial for an Act of Remembrance which will begin at 10am.

Kibblesworth
A short wreath laying ceremony will commence at 10.45am at the War Memorial, Grange Terrace, Kibblesworth.  Refreshments will be provided afterwards in the Millennium Centre, Grange Terrace.

Marley Hill
Assemble at St Cuthbert’s Church, Marley Hill, a Remembrance Service combined with Methodists, at 10.15am for an Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying.

Rowlands Gill
Service will take place at St Barnabas at 10.45am, and Strathmore Road Methodist Church at 11.45am, followed by a Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 12noon.

Ryton
Parish Communion will be held at Holy Cross at 10am. This will be followed by an Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 11am. (small walk from Holy Cross Church to memorial on Station Bank)

Swalwell
Service at Holy Trinity Church, Hexham Old Road at 9am, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 10am.

Winlaton
Service at St Paul’s Church at 9.30am; a short wreath laying service of Remembrance will follow at the War Memorial at 10.45am.

Whickham
